ARTHOUSE CINEMA TRAFFIC DELAYS AT DOCKS AREA TO CEASE IN MAY

Months of traffic delays on the Dock Road caused by the ongoing construction of the city Art House Cinema are expected to finally cease in May.

Representatives from Solas, the project managers behind the Picture Palace project, told city officials that the hoarding which has caused a one lane restriction is due to be taken away on May 31st.

The old two-way system will then be reinstated after years of project delays and setbacks.

JJ Rhatigan, began work in March this year, after the original contractor pulled out, and has now completed excavation of the basement.

City Council contributed the 1.8 million euro site as part of initial agreed plans and the draw-down schedule of government funding of 2.1 million euro has now been agreed.

Solas is now seeking the shortfall of 1 point 1 million euro in funding from the US where Project Manager Lelia Doolin is this afternoon travelling.
