ARRIVE early is the message from Salthill Garda Superintendent Noel Kelly to people travelling to this Sunday’s Connacht football championship match between Galway and Mayo at Pearse Stadium.

Parking in the vicinity of the stadium will be forbidden but while there may be some very limited street parking in Salthill there will also be a number of parking spaces at St Enda’s College, Threadneedle Road and at car parks in the city.

Only those with resident’s passes will be allowed into restricted areas and vehicles parked illegally will be towed away

Superintendent Noel Kelly is also advising people not to leave valuable items in their vehicles as thieves may be on the prowl and could target goods that may be left exposed in cars.

Meanwhile the County Board is to facilitate a Park and Ride service from Carnmore Airport for the big game.

The service will operate every 20 minutes from 12 noon until 3.30 this Sunday with an adult return fare of three euro.

A pilot Park and Ride scheme began earlier this week from the airport carpark with bus transfers to Forster Street in the city.
Chairman of the County Board Noel Treacy says football fans will be dropped off at the Western Distributor Roundabout.
