ARMED ROBBER GETS FIVE YEARS FOR CITY HEIST

A 29 year old man has been jailed for five years for his part in the armed robbery of cash from Securicor staff at Galway Shopping Centre four years ago.

Anthony Garvey of 103 Moneymore, Drogheda, pleaded guilty at Galway Circuit Criminal Court to the robbery of 4 thousand euro from a Securicor staff member at the Shopping Centre on July 21st, 2006.

Judge Raymond Groarke sentenced Garvey to five years in prison which he backdated to September 8, 2009, when he first went into custody.
