Galway Bay fm newsroom – The Archbishop of Tuam says today’s society has caused many people to feel displaced and anxious.
Speaking at today’s Reek Sunday Pilgrimage, Archbishop Michael Neary said the politics and economics of the past are becoming increasingly ineffective.
The Archbishop has also told pilgrims that hope belongs centrally and decisively to faith.
He says the Church should be a place of welcome, a counter-movement in a society which he says can be violent and unforgiving.
Over 30,000 people are expected to climb Croagh Patrick today for the annual pilgrimage.
Mass is be celebrated at the summit every half-hour until 2 o’clock this afternoon.
