ARAN LIFEBOAT ASSISTS IN RESCUE OPERATION

The Aran Island lifeboat is currently assisting in a rescue operation near the largest island of Inis Mor.

The lifeboat team received the alert call at around 4.15.

It has now met the vessel, a 26 metre fishing trawler, and has established a tow back to shore.

The Shannon Rescue Helicopter 115 is also in the air assisting the operation.

It’s understood the vessel, which has six people on board, broke down and was without power about one mile northwest of North Rock.

All crew members on board are uninjured.
