Two Aran Ferries destined for the Island of Mauritius are still waiting to be loaded onto a cargo ship at Galway docks, a full week after initial attempts were made.

Marine officials are waiting on the completion of paperwork before the ferries can be loaded onto the ‘Thor Gitta’ ship.

The 7,000 tonne ship has been placed under arrest by order of the High court, meaning it cannot set sail from its present location.

However, crew can still legally load the ferries onto the ship, once all the paperwork has been submitted.

Harbour Master, Brian Sheridan says he is doubtful the ferries will be loaded this evening.
