APPEALS BOARD SAYS NO TO KEELDERRY WINDFARM

Any hope of creating up to 75 jobs with the construction of a windfarm in Keelderry has been dashed.

It follows An Bord Pleanala’s decision to overturn permission granted by the county council for the windfarm off the Gort to Portumna road.

It says the proposed site is within a Special Protection Area which contains the second largest concentration of hen harrier in Ireland.

It’s also close to a number of sites that have a history of bog slides, according to an Inspector’s report submitted to An Bord Pleanala.
