APPEAL FOR WITNESSES FOLLOWING FATAL CRASHES IN WILLIAMSTOWN AND CLARE

Gardai in Tuam and Ennis are appealing for witnesses following two fatal road crashes this weekend.

The first incident took place in Williamstown yesterday morning claiming the life of a 51 year old Mayo man, while the second took place on the M18 claiming the life of an Athenry woman, aged in her 20s.

51 year old Jeremy Dee of Brickens in Claremorris died following a single vehicle incident when his car struck a wall at Kildaree, Williamstown shortly after 9 o’clock yesterday morning.

He was taken to Mayo General Hospital, where he died last afternoon.

Two women aged in their 20s who were passengers in the vehicle, one of these his daughter Ciara, suffered minor injuries.

Mr. Dee was the manager of Castlebar Celtic women’s soccer team.

Elsewhere, an Athenry woman, aged in her twenties, was killed following a crash in County Clare on the M18 last evening.

The woman lost her life after a crash on the northbound lane of the M18 at Ballylion in Barefield, near Ennis just before 4 o’clock yesterday afternoon.

The woman, whose name has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second woman, aged in her forties, her mother, also suffered minor injuries.
