APPEAL FOR INFORMATION ABOUT COUNTY BREAK INS

Gardaí are appealling for witnesses following a series of attempted break-ins in the county in the early hours of this morning [30/8]

Criminal damage was done to several premises in the Oranmore, Loughrea and Portumna areas between 1 and 2am

One of the attempted break-ins resulted in a high speed chase

All of the break-ins occurred at businesses that were not in built up areas

The culprits did not manage to get away with a lot of valuables, however substantial criminal damage was done

Then at around 1.30am, Gardaí at Portumna responded to an alarm at a premises in Portumna

Gardaí interrupted up to 4 culprits trying to break into the building but they then made their escape in a car

Portumna Gardaí pursued them for a time, but the culprits crossed the Shannon into Tipperary and managed to escape

Gardaí are investigating whether there is a link between all of the break-ins around the county

They’re appealling to anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity, or a suspicious car in the Oranmore, Loughrea or Portumna areas between 1am and 2am to contact them at Galway Garda Station
