Annual musical from University Society
Galway University Musical Society will present Urinetown: The Musical at the Black Box Theatre from February 7-11 at 8pm nightly. It’s the 17th annual show from GUMS.
This underrated and quirky Tony award-winning musical shows a futuristic world where water is scarce and urinating is expensive. With its hilarious characters and catchy songs, the satirical story focuses on class discrimination, corrupt law enforcement, revolution and above all, love.
All water consumption in this futuristic world is controlled by the unscrupulously greedy Caldwell B. Cladwell. But chaos ensues when his daughter falls in love with revolutionary leader Bobby Strong.
Galway University Musical Society is an amateur society run by students who have a passion for musicals. Their productions have been nominated for numerous AIMS awards and received rave reviews down through the years.
Tickets for Urinetown: The Musical are now on sale. For Tuesday and Wednesday, February 7 and 8, they cost €13/€10 concession (students and OAPs). Tickets for February 9-11 are €15 or €12 concession.
