Anarchic Abie returns with subversive style of comedy
Comedian and broadcaster Abie Philbin Bowman will headline the Róisín Dubh Comedy Club this Friday night, November 27.
Abie was most recently on stage in Galway during last year’s Comedy Carnival when he opened for Reginald D Hunter.
In a diverse and colourful career, the Dubliner has been boycotted by the DUP, interviewed the Ku Klux Klan, and got the International Monetary Fund delegation in Ireland to laugh at themselves. He is a regular on RTÉ Radio 1, and his TV appearances include Callan Kicks the Year and Irish Pictorial Weekly.
He has a track record of delivering cutting-edge material in stand-up shows such as Jesus, the Guantanamo Years and Eco-Friendly Jihad and has toured all over the world from Los Angeles to London and Pakistan.
Support comes from Sean Nolan, Winner of RTÉ’s New Comedy Awards. Sean is known for his stripped-back approach, quiet confidence and his intelligent and hilarious one-liners. The Bray native is a regular at top Dublin comedy clubs such as the International, and The Laughter Lounge.
The MC is musical comedian Steve Bennett in his regular role.
Doors for this Friday’s show are at 8.30pm and tickets are €8 from OMG Shop Street, the Róisín Dubh and roisindubh.net
