An Púcán takes honours at national awards
An Púcán bar in the City’s Forster Street, took home the award for Connacht Bar of the Year as well as the gong for Best Use of Social Media at The Sky Bar of the Year Awards, held in Dublin’s Mansion House, last week.
These are the latest industry awards for this venue, which describes itself as “Galway’s newest old bar”.
Although it has only been open for 14 months, An Púcán has developed a strong relationship with Galwegians and visitors alike. It has created a massive fanbase, boasting the largest Facebook following in the country.
Achieving this has involved a lot of work behind the scenes – a team managed by Philip Duignan and promoted by Doug Leddin implement engaging ways of interacting with the pub’s followers.
An Púcán has earned a reputation as a live entertainment venue, with milestones to date including a secret gig from Kodaline within the first few weeks of opening.
The pub has over 200 remarkable whiskeys and recently added The Garden, an outdoor area. The venue also serves breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as cocktails and craft beers. It’s open seven days and late night Saturdays.
