Galway bay fm newsroom – Just one ambulance in every two in counties Galway, Roscommon and Mayo is achieving the target response time in life threatening incidents.

The HIQA standard states that an ambulance should be at the scene of such calls within 19 minutes in 85 percent of cases.

However, figures released to Roscommom/South Leitrim TD Denis Naughton for June show that 49% of ambulances in the west responded within this target time.

The situation in the North West is slightly better with 62% of ambulances arriving within the target time while the figure is 67% for the midlands region.
