The Department of Transport has published its 2014 Regional and Local Roads Grants.

The County Council will receive 18.3 million euro for restoration and maintenance of roads in the county.

These works will include bridge rehabilitation at Crusheen, Baile an Donallan, Raford and Crumlin.

Work will also be carried out on the R336 from Barna to Ros a Mhil.

Junior Minister Ciaran Cannon says safety works will be carried out at Gortanumera, Cahernagarry, Killaan and Corner Chapel Headford.

A block grant of 161 thousand euro is being provided to Ballinasloe Town Council.

A further 1.6 million euro has been allocated to Galway City Council from the Department of Transport.
