Almost 2 million euro allocated to private housing grants for Galway
Galway Bay fm newsroom – Almost two million euro has been allocated to Galway City and County Councils for Private Housing Grants.
Galway County Council will receive over one and half million euro, while Galway City Council has been allocated over 440 thousand euro under the scheme.
It’s for home adaptations for older people, people with a disability and people with mobility issues.
The initial allocations awarded to Galway City and County Councils under the Private Housing Grant scheme show an increase on last year.
Galway County Council has been allocated one million, five hundred and 19 thousand euro- that’s almost 100 thousand euro more than their total allocation for 2013.
Galway City Council will see an increase of over 30,000 euro to their allocation for 2014- with an initial allocation of 448 thousand euro.
Nationally, over 38 million euro has been announced for Private Housing Grants this year – an increase of 11% on 2013.
The funds are used to support home adaptations for older people, people with a disability and people with mobility issues.
It’s expected that up to 7800 households will benefit from the scheme this year.
