ALLEGED COUNTY GALWAY RAPE TRIAL TO GET UNDERWAY THIS AFTERNOON

The trial of a Galway man charged with the alleged rape and sexual assault of a teenage girl has adjourned until 2 o clock today while another juror is sought.

Twelve jurors were sworn in at the Central Criminal Court – sitting in Galway today – after the man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded not guilty to both charges.

Both incidents are alleged to have taken place on July 27th 2008, in the county.

One of the jurors will not be able to attend the court sitting for a second week, so a replacement is being sought.
