All Tvvins in concert – a perfect Christmas present
If you’re looking for a real Christmas cracker, then surprise someone with a ticket to All Tvvins gig in Róisín Dubh on Saturday, February 11. The Dublin duo have enjoyed a productive 2016 with the release of their self-titled debut.
Lar Kaye and Conor Adams cut their teeth in The Cast of Cheers and Adebisi Shank, who specialised in a guitar-driven music that could be described as ‘math rock’, but they have made an ambitious step with All Tvvins (pronounced All Twins).
Whereas their previous projects were rightly lauded in indie circles, their current incarnation sees Lar and Conor make more commercially inclined music. Darkest Ocean was picked up by the makers of the FIFA video games – which is almost like having a radio hit these days.
But it was the single Thank You that really established All Tvvins as a force to be reckoned with. The beat is insistent, the guitar line echoes and soars like something the Edge would envy but it’s the chorus that sticks with you. It really is a superb track, and was nominated for Song of the Year at this year’s Choice Music Awards.
All Tvvins were invited to open for Kodaline on an arena tour this year, and certainly deserve to be heard by more people. And Lar Kaye is a superb guitar player who excels onstage – his energy is enviable and can’t be faked.
