For a few brief moments in the second-half, it looked as if Coláiste Bhaile Chláir could kick on and claim All-Ireland B glory for themselves as the tide of this Paddy Buggy Cup decider finally seemed to have turned in their favour.

The initiative was with the Galway side and they had the lead for the first time in the game after their hardworking midfielder Cillian Travers fired over a fine point from play to edge his side into a 0-9 to 0-8 lead with the home stretch in sight.

It was their third point on the bounce, and armed with this slender lead entering the final quarter it looked as if they’d finally got to grips with a physically stronger Rochestown side that had been on the front foot for most of the proceedings up to then.

Alas, this was as good as it got for Coláiste Bhaile Chláir, with the Cork response to going behind for the first time being clinical as it was ultra-efficient as they sensationally reeled off the last nine points of the game to run out convincing eight-point winners.

In truth, as man of the match in Cork 2021 All-Ireland minor winner William Buckley rifled over frees from all angles and distances to bring his tally to 0-10 over the hour, the Connacht champions could have no complaints and were powerless as the Munster champions closed in on this comprehensive victory.
