Airport must look to larger jets

A GOVERNMENT Minister has said that the long term vision for Galway Airport, of being able to take larger planes like Boeing 737s, could still be an attainable goal.

Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs Minister, Éamon Ó Cuív, told the Galway City Tribune that the progression of Galway into a modern city airport — at its current site — was an achievable target.

He said that given the massive progress which was being made in terms of the current road and rail improvements between Galway and Dublin, the airport would have to be looking at the development of its international dimension to sustain growth.
