Aimee to perform in aid of LauraLynn children’s hospice
Soloist Aimee Banks will perform her first Irish concert in aid of LauraLynn, Ireland’s only children’s hospice, in Galway Cathedral on Saturday October 1 (8pm).
The 14-years-old soprano burst on to the international scene last year after being chosen to represent Ireland at The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015, in Sophia, Bulgaria.
Since then, the Moycullen native has not slowed down, appearing on the iconic stages of Carnegie Hall in New York, and The National Concert Hall in Dublin. She has also performed at Boston Symphony Hall, Norman Rockwell Museum and The Whitney Centre for the Arts, Boston, USA in the past few months.
An award-wining vocalist, she has received the Overall Vocalist Award and Bursary at Feis Ceoil 2015 (Midlands) and 2016 (Sligo) and also received an award for Outstanding Achievement in Arts and Culture 2016 from Galway Roscommon Education and Training Board.
LauraLynn is Ireland’s only children’s hospice, providing palliative care and support for to children with life-limiting conditions and their families. This holistic approach to care ensures that support is provided to whole families, allowing parents to be Mums and Dads, rather than full time carers.
Care is provided in the hospice – LauraLynn House – in the comfort of the family home, and in some instances in the hospital and the community, depending on the child and family’s preference.
Operating since September 2011, LauraLynn has provided care and support to 280 children and their family members. All care is provided free to families because of the generosity of public donations, which is essential to ensure continued provision of these vital services to the children and families who need them.
