AER ARANN YET TO MAKE DECISION ON GALWAY AIRPORT
Date Published: 01-Feb-2012
Aer Arann is still unable to confirm if it will resume services at Galway airport this Summer.
A spokesperson for the airline says that while internal talks are taking place, they are not in a position to comment any further on the matter.
Last October, 47 people lost their jobs when the airline ceased its flights to and from the Carnmore base for the Winter.
The airport is currently operating as a category two facility, facilitating aircraft maintenance, and up to ten people are working at the site.
A spokesperson for Aer Arann could not confirm if it would resume services from the Summer, however they do expect a decision to be announced soon.
This is because the Summer schedule is due to be published in the coming weeks.
Talks are taking place at Aer Arann, but it is still not clear if any talks have taken place between the airline and the management at Galway airport.
Aer Arann has already served a six month notice on airport management regarding its maintenance facility at the airport.
