Additional lockdown restrictions announced by Taoiseach
The Government has announced additional restrictions to Level 5 lockdown, which will be in place until at least the end of January.
Schools will remain closed until February 1 (this will be reviewed on January 30), with the exception of Leaving Cert students who will attend school three days per week. There is also an exception for special education.
Early Childhood (ECCE) will remain closed until February 1, and childcare will be closed with exceptions for vulnerable children and children of essential workers.
Construction sites will close from 6pm on Friday, although work can continue on social housing projects and health-related projects or for emergency maintenance.
Click and collect for non-essential retail outlets is no longer allowed, but click and deliver is permitted.
There is also a travel ban on people from the UK and South Africa until Saturday, January 9. All travellers from those locations must have a negative PCR Covid test within 72 hours prior to arrival.
