Acoustic date with Simone Felice

on

Renowned Catskill Mountain songwriter Simone Felice (The Felice Brothers, The Duke & The King) returns to the Róisín Dubh on Saturday, October 25.

This will be an intimate acoustic date, with Felice accompanied by his friend Anna Mitchell on harmonium, piano, and vocal harmony. Expect renditions of songs from the recent highly acclaimed Strangers Lp, plus a wealth of material from Simone’s back catalogue.

As a member of The Felice Brothers, Simone played at Levon Helm’s Midnight Ramble in Woodstock. The now-deceased drummer from The Band led the Ramble from his home, and guests included Elvis Costello and Emmylou Harris.

Simone left The Felice Brothers in 2009 to pursue a solo and writing career. His first novel Black Jesus was published by Faber & Faber and tells the tale of a blinded Marine who returns to his hometown.

Following heart surgery on a childhood congenital disorder in 2010, and the birth of his daughter the same year, Simone set to work on his solo career. He released his self-titled debut in 2010 and followed it up with Strangers in 2014. It features guest appearances from his siblings in the Felice Brothers, as well as Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah Fraites from The Lumineers.

Strangers is a work of heartworn Americana, and fans of the genre are in for a treat when Simone Felice plays Róisín Dubh. Doors 8pm, admission €20.
