ABUSE VICTIMS STATEMENTS AT CASTLEBAR COURT

Victim impact statements are being read out in the trial of a 50-year-old man who has pleaded guilty to raping four of his daughters.

The Central Criminal Court in Castlebar is hearing details of the violent rape and physical torture of three of the girls.

He has pleaded guilty to 14 sample rape charges and willfully assaulting, neglecting or abandoning each of his victims.

The abuse relates to an 18-year period between 1991 and 2009 and sentencing is expected to take place tomorrow.
