A Word in Your Eye at the Kenny Gallery

A group exhibition, A Word in Your Eye is currently on display at The Kenny Gallery, Liosbán Retail Park, Tuam Road. The exhibition from the group, Akin which opened last Saturday, formed a visual arts aspect of the Cúirt International Festival of Literature. It was officially opened by newly Minister for Arts, Heritage and Gaeltacht Affairs, Jimmy Deenihan.
A Word in Your Eye is a mixed media exhibition featuring the artwork of AKIN members Margaret Irwin, Leonie King, Dolores Lyne, Jay Murphy and Sioban Piercy. Their art is accompanied by words from writers including Eva Bourke, Bernard O’Donoghue, Mary O’Malley Mícheál Ó Siadhail, Gerard Smyth, J.M. Synge, Walt Whitman and Joseph Woods.
The artists’ group Akin was established in 1991 by this group of highly talented women, and it has exhibited widely in Ireland, France and Italy.
A Word in Your Eye continues daily at the Kenny Gallery from 9.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Saturday until Thursday next, April 28. Admission is free and all are welcome.
