A GALWAY student was one of just 13 Leaving Certs from around the country to take maximum marks in all eight subjects when the longawaited results were published yesterday.

Craig Mac Liatháin, a student of Colaiste na Coiribe on the Tuam Road in Galway, achieved 200 points over what can be counted towards college places.

His eight A1’s was the second highest total in the country – the top result in the country was nine A1’s in the Kerry town of Killorglin.

Craig obtained maximumpoints in honours Irish, English, Maths, French, Geography, Chemistry, Biology, and Applied Maths, along with distinction in LCVP (Leaving Cert Vocational Programme).

“I was very surprised, I didn’t think that it was at all possible,” the 18 years old from Newcastle in the city told The Connacht Tribune after collecting his results.
