A MILLION EURO FOR GALWAY AGRI FOOD RESEARCH

Almost a million euro is being provided to NUIGalway for agri-food research by Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Simon Coveney.
Almost 350 thousand euro is being provided for an NUIG / Teagasc project on a ‘Novel Strategy for exploitation of milk glycoproteins in infant formula.’
A further quarter of a million euro is being granted to another collaborative project headed up by Dr. Rita Hickey.
It’s investigating the anti-infective properties of certain aspects of milk fat.
Almost 200 thousand euro has been announced for a project to examine the drivers of and barriers to improved economic performance of the dairy sector.
The fourth grant of 140 thousand euro is being provided to NUIG to investigate the spread of the grey squirrel to the West of Ireland.
