95 percent of NUIG students support marriage equality

Galway Bay fm newsroom – The majority of students attending NUI Galway have voted in favour of gay marriage.

A referendum on the issue was held at the college campus yesterday.

Counting of votes began this morning (14/3) and 2 thousand 214 people voted in favour of supporting marriage equality, representing 95 percent of the vote.

114 people voted against it.

Speaking to Galway Bay fm News, NUIG Students’ Union President, Seán Kearns, says it means that the college will now lobby for marriage equality on a national basis
