92 GALWAY COMPANIES COLLAPSE IN 2010

Almost 100 companies in Galway collapsed last year, leaving Galway with the highest number of company failures in Connaught in 2010.

According to a new report by insolvency-journal-dot- ie, 92 companies collapsed across Galway last year, an average of 7 companies a month.

15 companies in Mayo went bust last year, 11 collapsed in Roscommon, 5 in Leitrim and 13 in Sligo.

The figures have been released just two days after Galway Bay FM broke news of the closure of some of Galway’s best known pubs, clubs and off licences.

85 jobs have been lost in the city with the closure of the Cellar bar, Cuba nightclub, Bar 903 and the Harvest off licence chain.

Nationally, more than 15-hundred companies collapsed last year.
