87 cases of Lung Cancer were diagnosed in Galway in 2005, according to statistics just published

Nationwide that year a total of 1,842 people were diagnosed with lung cancer in the same year.

Lung Cancer is the country’s biggest cancer killer according to the Irish Cancer Society.

According to the society the vast majority of media coverage is overshadowed and defined by tobacco- related issues and there’s no focus on the signs and symptoms of lung cancer to promote early detection.
