8 YEARS IN PRISON FOR BALLYBANE DRUG ADDICT

A turf war over the distribution of smack cocaine and other hard drugs in the city has led to a 28 year old drug addict being jailed for eight years.

Thomas Sweeney, a father of five from 214 Castlepark, Ballybane appeared before Galway Circuit Criminal Court yesterday.

He pleaded guilty to aggravated burglary by threatening a woman’s daughter with a machete when he entered her home at Fana Glas, Ballybane, on January 9 demanding cash and drugs.
