8 million euro for computing centre at NUIG
Galway Bay fm newsroom – The Government has announced an 8 million euro investment in a computing centre based in Galway.
Minister for Research and Innovation, Seán Sherlock announced the funding today for the Irish Centre for High-End Computing.
The funding will support 25 computational scientist positions in Galway and Dublin over the next three years.
The ICHEC is hosted by NUIGalway and works with partners such as Mét Éireann, Tullow Oil and Paddy Power.
President of NUIG, Dr. Jim Browne says they are delighted to host the “cutting-edge” facility at the Newcastle campus.
