6 THOUSAND GALWAY STUDENTS TO BEGIN STATE EXAMS TOMORROW

More than six thousand young Galway people will sit their first exam throughout the city and county tomorrow morning.

That’s three thousand and twelve students who start the Leaving Cert and three thousand, one hundred and seventy-six who will commence their Junior Cerfificate.

Ninety-nine Galway students will commence the Leaving Cert Applied exams.

Nationally, the number of students sitting the Leaving Cert has decreased, due to a low birth rate in 1994.

In Galway, there are 155 fewer students for the Leaving Cert this year, while there are eighty-two more Galway students for the Junior Cert.
