50 percent rise in numbers waiting on trollies and wards at UHG
Galway Bay fm newsroom – The numbers waiting on trollies and wards at UHG last month compared to July 2013 have risen by over 50%.
That’s according to figures compiled by the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organsation.
The data shows that 446 people were waiting on trolleys and in wards at the Newcastle based hospital last month.
This compares to 295 in July 2013.
Nationally, the organisation reports an 8 percent increase in overcrowding last month, compared to July 2013.
The group is now calling on the new Minister for Health to tackle the issue.
INMO General Secretary Liam Doran says there are a number of reasons for overcrowding.
