44 PERCENT DROP IN GALWAY CAR SALES

There has been a 44 percent decrease in the number of new cars sold in Galway last month.

Figures released by the Society of the Irish Motor Industry show that 142 vehicles were registered in the county in August compared to 250 for the same period last year.

Over 3 thousand 700 new cars have been sold in Galway so far this year.

Nationally, there has been a 36 percent decrease in the number of new car sales for the month of August but average figures for the year show sales are up 7 percent.

Suzanne Sheridan of the Society of the Irish Motor Industry says it’s a reflection of the ending of the scrappage scheme.
