4 YEAR SENTENCE FOR MERVUE STABBING

A Ballybane man has been jailed for four years with the final two years suspended for stabbing his cousin with a Stanley knife at a family funeral.

42 year old James Donovan, of 40 Fana Glas, Ballybane, tried to get his 20-year-old son, James “Dolly” Donovan take the blame.

Both father and son were found guilty by a jury at Galway Circuit Criminal Court in December of assaulting their cousin with a hammer and Stanley knife at a family funeral in Mervue.
