350 new construction jobs for Crown Square site
From this week’s Galway City Tribune – Around 350 new jobs will be created over the next few months as construction work ‘gears up’ at the €200 million Crown Square office, hotel and apartments development in Mervue.
There are already 40 workers on the site and developer Padraic Rhatigan confirmed to the Galway City Tribune this week that this figure will reach 380 to 400 before next April.
The first phase of construction involves a 175-bed hotel with bar, restaurant and conference, two office blocks with space for up to 900 workers and 288 apartments.
Mr Rhatigan said that phase is expected to be completed in “late 2021 or early 2022” and confirmed that an international brand will be signing up to operate the hotel “relatively soon”.
He said that initial discussions have taken place with a number of international companies who have expressed an interest in becoming tenants in the office blocks.
“They’re being developed as speculative offices, but I expect that by mid next year, we’ll have confirmation of occupation [of the offices],” said Mr Rhatigan.
