25 PERCENT INCREASE IN NUMBER OF GALWAY FARMERS SEEKING STATE SUPPORT

The number of Galway farmers seeking state support has risen dramatically.

New figures reveal there’s been a 24 percent increase in the number of Galway farmers applying for the farm assist social welfare payment in the first quarter of this year compared to the same time last year.

Fine Gael Deputy Agriculture Spokesperson Andrew Doyle hopes these new figures will act as a wake up call to the Government.
