24 PERCENT INCREASE IN BALLINASLOE DRUGS ARRESTS

There’s been a 24 percent increase in the number of arrests for drug offences in the Ballinasloe area.

However, burglaries are down by 13 percent and drink driving offences have also reduced by 41 per cent.

Gardaí told a meeting of the Joint Policing Committee in Ballinasloe this week, that the reduction is a direct result of the increase in mandatory alcohol checkpoints in the area.
