200 MOTORISTS IN WEST DETECTED AS PART OF GARDA OPERATION ‘LIGHT UP’

207 motorists in the West were detected by Gardai last month as part of ‘Operation Light-Up’.

The initiative set out to address the use of defective , broken or missing lights as well as the inappropriate use of fog lights, in a bid to save lives.

The two day operation was carried out at locations across the country on February 20th and 21st.

190 drivers in the West were detected and offered advice by Gardai while 17 had offences recorded by means of fixed charge notice or prosecution.

Nationally, advice was offered to over one thousand motorists and 317 offences were recorded.
