200 Galway women expected at heart disease awareness march

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Up to 200 women will take to the streets of Galway this lunchtime to raise awareness of heart disease.

The women will depart from Spanish Arch at midday and walk to Eyre Square as part of a campaign by Galway based heart and stroke charity Croí.

The organisation says more women die from heart diesease and stroke than breast cancer and women experience different symptoms of heart attack than men.

Meanwhile, a free public talk on ‘heart facts for women’ takes place in the Croí heart and stroke centre this Wedensday evening.

Free blood pressure and pulse checks for ‘women only’ are also available on the day from 2 to 7pm.
