20 THOUSAND GALWAY PROPERTIES LIABLE FOR SECOND HOME TAX

Almost 4 million euro is set to be collected from Galway property owners by the end of this week for the second home tax.

The deadline for payment of the Non Principal Private Residene levy is this Saturday June 30th.

The 200 euro annual charge is based upon the ownership and status of the property on the 31st March 2012.

An estimated 10 thousand properties in the city are liable for the charge which would generate two million euro for the local authority.

A further nine thousand 800 houses in the county are recorded for payment of the charge – which represents a local authority earning of over one point 9 million.
