Galway Bay Fm news
Galway has seen a sharp decrease of 20 per cent in planning applications as well as a significant fall in building commencements compared to a national average drop of only 7 per cent.
Thats according to the latest edition of the National Housing Construction Index compiled and issued by Link2Plans.com.
The researchers examined every housing construction planning application and planning commencement from January to April 2013 and gave a direct comparison with the same period in 2012.
Galway has experienced the 6th sharpest drop in planning applications from 266 in January to April 2012 to 212 in the same period in 2013.
According to Danny O’Shea, Managing Director of Link2Plans, less planning applications this year will have the knock-on affect of less house building next year in Galway city and county.
