Two companies have announced the creation of 150 jobs between them with the bulk of those – 100 – going to be in the new B&Q store that is set to open in Knocknacarra next month.

Located in the Galway West Retail Park, the new 60,000 square foot store is offering full and part time positions and various shifts to suit most lifestyles. B&Q also actively encourages applications from the over 50s, acknowledging the excellent customer service skills and knowledge of DIY these members of the team can bring to the store.

Meanwhile, 49 jobs are to be created in the city in one of the world’s largest financial services firms, which is to establish a research and development unit here.

The Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Micheál Martin has announced that Fidelity Investments, which currently operates from the Parkmore East Business Park, is set to create and extra 49 jobs in Galway.
