14 per cent drop in number sitting state examinations in Galway
Galway Bay fm newsroom – There’s been a 14% drop in the number of students sitting state examinations in Galway city and county.
Today is D-day for over five thousand young Galway people who will sit the first of their state exams tomorrow morning.
Three thousand, two hundred and eighteen students will sit Junior Certificate English, while two thousand, nine hundred and eighty-one will sit the Leaving Certificate English Paper One.
A further ninety-seven students will begin the Leaving Cert applied exam schedule.
Last year, over 6,200 students sat state exams in Galway city and county, almost 900 more than the expected figure for this year.
