13 in contention for Oyster Pearl

Contestants for the sought after title of Galway Oyster Pearl 2007 were unveiled at a function in the G Hotel last night.

The Pearl will be the focus of attention at the 53rd Galway International Oyster Festival later this month, presiding over all of the festival events.

Thirteen young ladies, sponsored by various city companies and organisations, are in the running for the honour this year.

The winner will be selected at a glittering gala banquet hosted by RTE’s Marty Whelan in the Ardilaun Hotel on Thursday, September 13.

In addition to a specially commissioned Galway Crystal Trophy the lucky winner will receive a fabulous string of pearls, a Raymond Weil watch, Aer Arann vouchers, a beautiful Lancôme Presentation Coffret and a Bellissimo Pamper Hamper.

The Oyster festival will open on Thursday, September 27, running until Sunday, September 30.
