100 NEW JOBS EXPECTED AT TUAM COMPANY

A Tuam based car technology firm is expected to announce the creation of 100 jobs this week.

Valeo Vision systems is to invest an extra 17 million euro in its research and development programme at the Tuam base.

According to the Irish Independent Enterprise Minister Batt O ‘Keefe will confirm later this week that recruitment for the 100 high end jobs will begin immediately.

There are already around 400 staff working at Valeo Visions in Tuam, which makes car components.

Meanwhile, 16 shops in the Celtic bookmakers chain, including the branch in Tuam is to close from today. (20/01)

A handful of jobs have been lost at the betting shop, based at the square in Tuam.

However there’s good news for Celtic Bookmakers at prospect hill in the city, as it’s expected to continue trading as normal.
