10 GALWAY GARDA STATION CLOSURES TO TAKE PLACE THIS MONTH

The 100 Garda station closures, including 10 in Galway, announced last year are expected to take place this month.

According to The Sunday Independent, divisional chief superintendents have been told the closures should be completed this month.

9 of the stations to close are in Galway East and 1 in Galway West.

Four of the stations – Kiltullagh, Tynagh, Kilchreest and New Inn – each have one full time Garda.

They will now be transferred to Athenry, Portumna, Craughwell and Loughrea.

The other six stations to close – Kilconly, Menlough, Kilcolgan, Leenane, Shanaglish, Ballymoe have no permanent Guard.
