1.8 million euro for discovery points at Connemara beauty spots
Galway Bay fm newsroom – Fáilte Ireland has allocated 1.8 million euro to Galway County Council to enhance the visitor experience in Connemara.
Director of Services Liam Gavin told this afternoon’s meeting of the council that the funds will be used to provide orientation and discovery points at various locations.
The 1.8 million euro provided by Fáilte Ireland will be used to provide 19 lay-by discovery points and orientation points across the region.
The aim is to enhance the tourism infrastructure of Connemara.
Connemara councillors asked if the funding could be used to improve signage in the area, but were told by Director of Services Liam Gavin that signage would be dealt with seperately.
He’s asked councillors to inform him of any lack of signage for villages and townlands across the region.
It’s hoped that the discovery points will be in place by June 2016.
