1.4 million euro is to be invested in community sports facilities across Galway

It’s part of a 26 million euro national allocation by Sports Minister Michael Ring

33 applications from Galway were successful

Junior Minister and Galway East TD Ciaran Cannon told Galway Bay fm News the new funds will empower local communities to provide badly needed new sports facilities for young people in particular.

The Galway facilities to benefit at the higher end of the scale are Caltra GAA Club and Leitrim Sports and Recreational Development Group which each receive 140 thousand euro; Kilconly GAA Club which gets 110 thousand euro; Dunmore McHales GAA Club which gets 100 thousand euro and Moycullen Handball club which gets 80 thousand

Renmore GAA Club, Tommy Larkin’s GAA Club and Loughrea Athletic Club EACH get 75 thousand euro while Clifden GAA Club has been allocated 70 thousand euro

Killimordaly GAA Club will get 60 thousand euro; Portumna Lawn Tennis Club gets 54 thousand euro while Ballinasloe Town Council and Loughrea Tennis Club EACH get 50 thousand euro

Ballinasloe Town AFC and Galway County Council EACH get 40 thousand euro

The other successful Galway clubs are getting sports capital funding ranging from 25 thousand euro to 2,500 euro
